Unmounted cabinet photograph, circa 1890's, of Ute Iron Springs (colorado) near Pike's Peak. It shows the Springs Pavillion, hotel and souvenir shop of Joseph G. Heistand, the famous photographer. He was also a mineralogisst and taxidermist. His store was a regular stop on the trolly that ran from Manitoux to the Depot of Manitoux & Pike's Peak Cog Railroad. The train tracks are visible to the left. Most likely taken by Heistand himself. Part of the Schaeffer Western photography collection. Small damage to image on lower left corner (see photo link). The style of the pavilion identifies to Circa 1890. Approximately 5-1/5" x 7-1/5" overall. |
