Drab brown canvas case, marked
"Colonel George Chase Lewis U.S. Infantry" Canvas folded map case with
strap, celluloid windows (for waterproof viewing) and green felt. The
case's flaps secure with rimless eagle snap fasteners.
Pocket on reverse side has slots for pencils,
etc. Carried by officers, NCOs, or anyone else who constantly carried
maps, documents, and notebooks. Celluloid stitching is undone in one
area, green felt leaves are very moth eaten. Contains several maps. See
WWI Collector's Handbook, pg. 27 B. |
