Indian Wars Period Soldiers Tole Tin Snuff or Possible Case Small flat semicircular box with hinged cover and fancy engraved decoration on the lid. Has "Edward Haup- Patent_ 211880" stamped on the side. Measures approx. 2 7/8"x 7/8" x ½" high overall. These boxes originally contained water purifiers, very popular during the Civil War. When emptied they were reused as possible tins (boxes) for tobacco, snuff, spice, etc. $ 50.00
